I have the same issue. With windows 8.1 I was able to cast to my LG Smart tv without having to connect any cables. Following the windows 10 upgrade, I am now unable to cast any videos to my tv wirelessly. I don't want to have to connect any cables to my tv and in doing so would negate the ability to cast wirelessly. The system worked fine 12hrs prior to updating.
Andria, never one to be doubtful, I tried your suggestion and it did not resolve the issue of not being able to cast wirelessly to my tv.

The same thing is happening to me. I also do not want to connect with cords. In windows 8.1, the plat to was fantastic! In windows 10, I could cast to, but, the aspect ratio was off, or it didn't work at all. I had 3 tv icons appear when I right clicked> cast to. I wiped out my computer, set it back to factory, and reinstalled windows 10. I downloaded a movie, and right clicked> cast to, and now 2 tv icons appear. I have not tried it yet as I was hoping to find an answer on how to fix the cast to device. LOVED the play to.... HATE the cast to!
I see a few people complaining about this subject, so an answer or fix would be nice!!

I think I may have found a solution. In a quest to find the answer to our problem, I read through several threads yesterday. I came upon one, did it myself, and so far, so good! Hope it also works for you.
(The following is a check list of things that need to be turned on, detected, etc).
1. Go to > Control Panel > Network & Sharing Center.
Look to the left column and click on > Change Advanced Sharing Settings.
Click on the arrow pointing downward by > Private (current profile). This will expand it.
Check the box > Turn On Network Discovery.
Check the box > Turn On Automatic Setup Of Connected Devices.
Close out the window.
2. Now go to "Search the web and Windows" (on the task bar) and type in > Media Streaming Options, and be sure to click on the "My Stuff" side.
Click on Media Streaming Options (with the colored icon next to it).
Now a page will open up called, Choose Media Streaming Options For Computers And Devices.
Make sure all boxes are checked to "Allowed".
Click on > Choose Default Settings..... Check "All Ratings". Make sure the "default" is unchecked .
Close out the window.
3. Click on the Windows logo (bottom left hand side of toolbar).
From the list choose > Settings.
Click on Devices.
Click on left hand side column > Connected Devices.
Under "Play Devices" your TV should be listed. If it is not, restart/reboot your computer and check the steps in #3 again.
If your TV is still not listed, you will need to "Add A Device".
So hopefully it will now work for you!
Some advise..... When your Cast To is finished playing a movie (or whatever) give it some time to remove (clear list) the move from the list and to shut down and close out after clicking on the X to close the program.
I am finding it takes the CAST TO a longer time to respond than the Play To did. Have some patience and wait for it to do it's thing because it is not as fast as the Play To used to be. Hopefully updates will fix this in the future. Another thing... and I know this sounds weird, but give the Cast To a little time to work properly. I had to. It was "buggy" for a bit, then it was ok. Maybe some of the program files had to find their way to the correct space, lol, I don't know. All I know is that today, after fiddling around with it yesterday, all is ok now and it works. Yeah!
Also in the thread I found, it was mentioned that your Firewall/Security might be blocking the program. You might want to look around those areas to see if it is being blocked. I didn't have to after I UNCHECKED the DEFAULT box in step 2.

I'm just trying to use HDMI cable like I used to when watching Samsung TV. Have 2 TV's, but different models. I can use on one but not the other. Any suggestions? The TV I can't get to work is an older model.

Hello,
Let us gather some information to analyze the issue.
What is the make and model of your device?( Your PC and older TV model )
What happens when you try to work with second or older model? Does it shows black screen?
Is it worked fine with the previous operating system?
Did you tried connecting it using VGA?
Keep us posted with the above information to see where problem lies.

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

b. Locate and expand " Display adaptor" in the Device Manager Window.
c. Right-click on the " Display adaptor " and click on "uninstall" to uninstall the Display adaptor driver and Graphic card driver.
d. Restart the computer and check, if it works.
